Fighting for People, Planet, and Parks before Profits

Colton Baldus for Park Board District 5

Welcome! My name is Colton Baldus, and I’m running a progressive, socialist, and unapologetically pro-labor campaign for Park Board District 5 Commissioner.

I work as a Tenant and Community Organizer, standing with working class residents of Elliot Park to demand dignity, stability, and justice. Over the past year, I’ve helped secure direct aid for families displaced by the fire at 1501 11th Ave S, organized tenants to push back against neglectful landlords, and led sustainability initiatives like neighborhood and park cleanups. I’ve also supported food distribution and donation projects to confront food insecurity in our community.

Through this work, I’ve seen firsthand the transformative power of parks in a neighborhood. Nearly every project I’ve worked on has relied on our parks, whether as gathering spaces, distribution sites, or places of recreation. Parks provide a space for addressing environmental concerns, combating climate change, and bringing joy and stability to residents. I am deeply committed to expanding this impact if I am elected as Park Board Commissioner for District 5.

As a cyclist, pedestrian, and outdoor enthusiast I love our parks. Whether commuting through Powderhorn Park, biking to Bloomington through Nokomis Park, or simply enjoying a book, a date, or time with friends in nature, parks bring me joy. They lift my spirits, and I want to help ensure they remain accessible for everyone to enjoy.

Our Vision: Safe, Green, Accessible Parks for All
